About Matthew Alan's Tasty Treats

The story of Matthew Alan’s Tasty Treats is a lifelong journey of passion, family tradition, and culinary innovation.  It all began at the tender age of 3, when Matthew Alan Misciagna and his mother were watching an episode of Julia Child on television, and Matthew immediately set out to bake his very first batch of cream puffs. Inspired by the culinary icon -- while other kids were watching cartoons and Sesame Street -- Matthew was glued to the cooking show daily, sparking a lifelong passion.

Just a few years later, that passion sparked a neighborhood venture.   By the time he was about 7 or 8,  Matthew's baking had become so prolific that there were simply too many sweet treats for his family to eat. Desperate to find a home for the excess baked goods filling the house, Matthew's father had an inspired idea: he bought Matthew a little red wagon and insisted he begin delivering the confections to the neighbors.  As they clamored for more, Matthew quickly developed a loyal following of repeat customers, special orders, and home deliveries. This thriving neighborhood route marked the early, unofficial birth of Matthew Alan's Tasty Treats (circa 1979).

By the age of 10 or 11, Matthew was sneaking off every day after school to his Grandmother's kitchen, often leaving his parents wondering where he was!  But there was no need to worry, as young "Matteo"—as Grandma Misciagna called him—was safely by her side, absorbing the traditional family recipes and scratch-made techniques that would form the heart of his culinary foundation.

Driven by this lifelong passion, Matthew went on to receive formal training at his High School Vocational program, then earned his Culinary degree at The Restaurant School of Philadelphia.   Over the next three decades, he gathered invaluable professional food industry experience, honing his craft in kitchens ranging from fast-casual establishments to five-star restaurants.  This lifetime of experience and dedication culminated on May 9, 2026, when a lifelong dream was fully realized with the opening—or reopening—of  "Matthew Alan's Tasty Treats" as an independent, locally owned small business bakery.

Today, Matthew serves as Owner, Founder, and President, bringing together the absolute best of what his 50 plus years of baking passion and 30 years of professional industry experience have to offer.   As a proud independent bakery serving Pottstown, Sanatoga, and the Tri-County area, and along with our equally gifted bakery staff and interns, we continue to craft our own scratch-made recipes while exploring fresh ideas.   Our ever-growing menu features everything from Sue’s Classic Eclairs and our award-winning Banana's Foster Bread Pudding, to custom cakes, cupcakes, cookies, tarts, and an expanding selection of gluten-friendly treats.  Innovation remains at our core, highlighted by our very own, all-new sticky bun and cinnamon bun recipes topped with unique, specialty flavors. We pair all of our handcrafted goods with a custom-designed, premium coffee blend perfect for any morning routine.

Beyond baking, Matthew Alan’s Tasty Treats is deeply committed to supporting the next generation of culinary talent. We proudly provide hands-on training and internship opportunities to culinary students from local vocational schools and community college programs, shaping the future of the local food industry.

As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to making online ordering seamless, developing exciting monthly specials, and meeting the unique dietary needs of our community.
